Sonia Bompastor had a debut season to remember in the Chelsea dugout as the 45-year-old Frenchwoman led the Blues to a domestic treble, which included a sixth-consecutive league title.
The Subway FA Women’s League Cup and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup were both captured thanks to wins over Manchester City and Manchester Utd in the respective finals and a 1-0 win over Liverpool on the final day of the WSL season ensured Chelsea became the first side to finish a 22-game campaign unbeaten.
Manager: Sonia Bompastor
Sonia Bompastor faced a tall task in replacing Emma Hayes in charge of Chelsea but made history in her first season as boss.
The Frenchwoman, who had previously won the league title in all three seasons as Lyon manager, led the Blues to a domestic treble in her first season, while they also went unbeaten in the league – the first team to have done this.
Chelsea also set a new points record, with the only blemish on a stellar first season for the long-time France midfielder, the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Barcelona.
