British Gas and WSL Football team up to super-charge women’s football
British Gas will become the official energy partner of Women’s Super League Football following the agreement of a new and transformational multi-year deal to support the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (BWSL2).
This partnership is aimed at growing women’s football and creating a better matchday experience. British Gas and WSL Football will deliver community events nationwide and in-stadia, designed to bring supporters together and build lasting fan networks around the women’s game. With a surge of new fans coming to the leagues, the partnership will help first-time attendees, solo supporters, and families connect with one another and enjoy the game.
In addition, British Gas is committed to supporting what happens both on and off the pitch, and an ambition for the new partnership is for WSL Football to tap into British Gas expertise to create sustainable pitch protection options for the future of football.
From the start of the 2025/26 season, British Gas will be rewarding its customers with thousands of free BWSL and BWSL2 tickets and experiences up for grabs. With many BWSL matches taking place on Sundays, saves can be made both on and off the pitch for millions of customers who can watch BWSL matches with half-price electricity and save through the market leading PeakSave scheme.
Zarah Al Kudcy, Chief Revenue Officer, WSL Football says: “Partnering with British Gas marks another exciting step forward for WSL Football. This collaboration is rooted in a shared ambition to elevate the women’s game, build communities and provide sustainable solutions within football, whilst also reimagining what the matchday experience can be. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected future for women’s football.”
Chris O’Shea, Group Chief Executive of British Gas owner Centrica says: “We are proud to sponsor the BWSL and BWSL2 during this exciting and pivotal time in women’s football. Through this partnership we will be energising women’s football fans, supporting communities and rewarding our customers with thousands of tickets and experiences. We also support WSL Football’s ambition to use the power of women’s football to create a more equitable society as we continue encouraging more women to consider careers in engineering. We’re recruiting a new apprentice every day until 2030 and we want at least 50% of them to be female.”
