A statement 5-2 victory over Arsenal helped Villa to sixth in the WSL last term, narrowly missing out on matching their best-ever finish of fifth.

The club returned to the topflight after gaining promotion in 2019/20 as champions, and in doing so, ended a 16-year absence from the WSL.

Manager: Natalia Arroyo

Natalia Arroyo will be hoping to build on the momentum of her first half a season in charge of Aston Villa after joining the club midway through last year's campaign.

Replacing Robert de Pauw, the Spanish manager endured a slow start to life at Villa Park, as they lost their first five league matches under her stewardship.

But the former Real Sociedad boss, where she finished runner-up in both the league and cup, then oversaw a dramatic turnaround in fortunes.

Villa won their last five games of the season to finish in sixth overall, managing half of their 32 goals scored all season in that spell.
