- Every BWSL and BWSL2 side takes part, 23 clubs in all, with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea the only absentees while away on UEFA Women's Champions League duty.
- The league phase
- For the first time, the Subway Players Cup runs as a single league phase. Every club plays six league games between September and December.
- One combined table
- BWSL and BWSL2 clubs sit in a single combined table.
- Who progresses
- The top eight clubs at the end of the league phase progress to the quarter-finals.
- The knockout rounds
- Quarter-finals in January, then semi-finals in February: two ties, four clubs.
- The final
