Barclays Women's Super League November award winners announced
The winners of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s monthly awards for November have now been confirmed.
Voted for by a combination of the public and a panel of industry experts, the successful individuals for the third month of the campaign are as follows.
Firstly, Manchester City’s Kerstin Casparij has been named as Player of the Month after an impressive November in sky blue.
Enjoying an unbeaten month with three wins from as many games, Casparij was at the heart of City’s efforts in both defence and attack as she helped the Citizens to two clean sheets against West Ham United (1-0) and Manchester United (3-0), providing two assists in the latter fixture.
The Dutch international saw off the challenge of Everton’s Kelly Gago, London City Lionesses’ Freya Godfrey, Liverpool’s Beata Olsson, Chelsea’s Alyssa Thompson and teammate Khadija Shaw to take the award.
Manager of the Month meanwhile has been awarded to Casparij’s coach, Andrée Jeglertz, who takes the accolade for the second month running after his inaugural success in this category in October.
Taking City to the summit of the Barclays WSL table with nine points from their three league games, their form in November saw them extend their winning run to seven games and top the goalscoring charts with 20 efforts in their nine games.
As he was in October, Jeglertz was up against London City Lionesses manager Jocelyn Precheur, who enjoyed impressive victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa throughout November.
Finally, Alyssa Thompson’s strike against Arsenal has been voted as Goal of the Month for November.
The Chelsea forward’s stunning effort in a 1-1 draw against the Gunners at the Emirates beat her own strike against Liverpool, Hikaru Kitagawa (v Aston Villa), Jess Park (v Brighton), Eveliina Summanen (v London City Lionesses), Freya Godfrey (v Tottenham Hotspur), Kelly Gago (v Manchester City), and Lauren Hemp (v Manchester United) in the voting polls.
