Kerys Harrop named in BWSL Hall of Fame
Our second inductee, Kerys Harrop – a player who played the entirety of her 12-year career in the top flight of the women’s game in England and once held the title of being the WSL’s record appearance holder.
Born and bred in Wordsley in the West Midlands, the defender joined her hometown club of Birmingham City as a youngster and spent almost a decade plying her trade at senior level for the Blues.
Starting her career in 2011 as the Barclays WSL came into being, Harrop was a stalwart for City over the course of the next nine years, playing 135 times in the league and scoring 13 goals.
Winning the FA Cup in 2012 at the age of just 22, she also played a pivotal role as Birmingham City progressed all the way to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2014.
Earning legendary status during her time with the Midlands outfit and establishing herself as one of the game’s pioneers, she departed the club in 2020 and enjoyed three seasons with Tottenham Hotspur before announcing her retirement in the summer of 2023.
Having acquired a first-class degree in Sport Science during her playing career, Harrop is now teaching the next generation within the University of Wolverhampton’s Football Coaching & Performance department, as well as still working within the game as an agent.
