Portsmouth secured a clinical 2-0 victory over league leaders Charlton at The Valley, handing the hosts their first defeat of the season and moving themselves off the bottom of the table.
Two goals in the opening 10 minutes proved decisive for Jay Sadler’s side. Izzy Collins opened the scoring after a set-piece scramble, followed quickly by a Georgie Freeland free-kick that found the back of the net from out wide. Despite Charlton controlling much of the second-half possession, a resilient Pompey defence held firm through nine minutes of stoppage time to seal the three points.
