British Gas Save of the Month award winners for November confirmed
The winners of the British Gas Save of the Month awards for November in both the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (BWSL2) have been confirmed.
Firstly, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Chiamaka Nnadozie emerged victorious in the voting for the Barclays WSL British Gas November Save of the Month courtesy of her exploits against Liverpool.
Keeping out Fuka Nagano’s goalbound effort in the 40th minute of the clash, it eventually proved to be a crucial save as Brighton scored an injury time equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
Saves by Aston Villa’s Sabrina D’Angelo (v London City Lionesses), Liverpool’s Faye Kirby (v Brighton) and Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita (v Everton) were also in contention.
In Barclays WSL2 meanwhile, Charlton Athletic’s Sophie Whitehouse scooped the British Gas November Save of the Month accolade for the division, making it back-to-back successes in this category after her triumph in October.
The shot-stopper’s save against fellow promotion chasers Birmingham City – which helped her side to all three points - topped the voting polls, with her seeing off the challenge of efforts by Durham’s Catriona Shepard (v Newcastle United), Sheffield United’s Sian Rogers (v Crystal Palace) and Sunderland’s Grace Maloney (v Newcastle United).
