The January shortlists for the British Gas Save of the Month awards have now been confirmed, with eight outstanding stops recognised across the two divisions after another month packed with decisive goalkeeping moments.

In the BWSL, four goalkeepers are in the running after stepping up under pressure and producing saves that proved crucial in tight contests.

Arsenal’s Anneke Borbe is shortlisted for her intervention against Manchester United, while Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita earns her place thanks to an impressive stop against London City Lionesses. Everton’s Courtney Brosnan features following a standout save against Manchester City, with Liverpool goalkeeper Jennifer Falk completing the shortlist after a key moment in her side’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Attention then turns to BWSL2, where another four goalkeepers have been recognised for their performances during January, each producing moments that swung momentum in their team’s favour.

Portsmouth’s Jess Gray is nominated for her efforts against Southampton, while Sheffield United’s Sian Rogers is included following her save against Crystal Palace. Nottingham Forest’s Emily Batty and Charlton Athletic’s Sophie Whitehouse also make the shortlist after their respective interventions during the month.

Voting for January’s British Gas Save of the Month opens tomorrow, Thursday 29 January, at 10am and will remain open until Tuesday 3 February at 10am.
