British Gas Save of the Month: March Shortlists revealed

The March shortlists for the British Gas Save of the Month awards have now been confirmed, with eight outstanding stops recognised across the two divisions after another month packed with decisive goalkeeping moments.

In the BWSL, four goalkeepers are in the running after stepping up under pressure and producing saves that proved crucial in tight contests.

Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar is shortlisted for her stop in the North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur (72' minute), while Tottenham's keeper, Lize Kop, is also nominated for a save which came just a few minutes later (76' minute). Elsewhere, Jennifer Falk is once again in contention to pick up the monthly award for her display for Liverpool against Brighton & Hove Albion, and finally, West Ham United's Kinga Szemik gets her first save of the month nomination in the match against Manchester United, with her showstopping save in the 38th minute.

Equally the BWSL2 has shown some incredible goalkeeping performances, where another four goalkeepers have been recognised for their performances during March.

A consistent level of performance from Sian Rogers (Sheffield United) v Birmingham City (70' minute), Shae Yañez (Crystal Palace) v Nottingham Forst (90+9' minute) & Sophie Whitehouse (Charlton Athletic) v Crystal Palace (61' minute) have all seen them nominated for back-to-back months. To complete the nominees list, Southampton's Fran Stenson's crucial save against Durham in the 90+2' minute ensured the game finished level.

Voting for March's British Gas Save of the Month opens from 10am (BWSL) and 11am (BWSL2) today, Thursday 2nd April, and will remain open until Tuesday 7th April at 10am.
