Looking to get the edge on your Fantasy rivals? These bargain players could fast track your team to success in BWSL gameweek 9.
We’ve gone through the stats, fixture list and form guide to select five outside picks for this week, all of whom are less than 3% owned in fantasy.
Grace Geyoro (London City, MID)
Price: £6.0m | Selected: 1%
The French star has started all eight BWSL games this season, and with a weekend fixture against Birmingham City, this could be the perfect time for Geyoro to break her scoring duck in the league.
Only Charlton Athletic have conceded more than Blues this season and they head into this game on the back of a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur. Birmingham have also picked up just one point from four away matches this season.
As for Geyoro, she played in a more advanced role against Manchester City last weekend and has massively underperformed her expected goals (xG) this term. That will surely change soon.
With the next three London City Lionesses’ fixtures coming against sides currently residing outside the top six, Geyoro might be a punt worth taking.
Caitlin Hayes (Brighton, DEF)
Price: £5.5m | Selected: 3%
The seventh-hightest scoring BWSL defender so far this season, Hayes has established herself as a consistent selection. Of the six defenders to have earned more points from the opening eight gameweeks, three are selection doubts, so the Brighton centre-back could be a good choice this week.
She’s also scored three in the last four in all competitions and has earned a massive 26 points over the last three BWSL fantasy gameweeks.
There’s no worry about Hayes being dropped, she hasn’t missed a minute this season. Admittedly, Sunday’s opponents Spurs have the second most potent attack in the league, but with one win in the last four BWSL matches, this should be a good time to take on Martin Ho’s side.
Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (Crystal Palace, GK)
Price: £4.5m | Selected: 2%
With Crystal Palace hosting rock-bottom Charlton this weekend, the Eagles may be a good side to target, especially given they won this fixture 3-0 when the teams met in the Subway Player Cup at the end of September.
Peyraud-Magnin is actually Palace’s top scoring player in fantasy this season and the fifth-highest scoring goalkeeper in the BWSL.
Charlton have scored just three times this season, while Peyraud-Magnin is yet to make an error leading to a goal this season. She looks a shrewd selection.
Chasity Grant (Aston Villa, MID)
Price: £6.0m | Selected: 1%
Aston Villa’s resurgence has been one of the biggest BWSL talking points in recent weeks, and Grant has been at the heart of that turnaround.
The Dutch international has provided a goal or assist in each of the last four league games, while only three players have registered more assists this season. Grant has also started all eight BWSL games this campaign and has outscored the likes of Kirsty Hanson, Jess Park, Beth Mead and Ella Toone.
Manchester United will offer a stern test on Sunday, but given Villa’s form, don’t bet against them. Then fixtures against Birmingham, Charlton and West Ham United follow, so Grant could be a good long-term selection.
Veerle Buurman (Chelsea, DEF)
Price: £5.0m | Selected: 3%
Of the nine Chelsea defenders listed in fantasy, five are yellow flagged ahead of the weekend, meaning Burman will likely start in Saturday’s clash against Everton.
The former PSV Eindhoven player scored seven points last week in the 6-0 win over Charlton. Remarkably, Chelsea are yet to concede across Buurman’s last 10 appearances in all competitions.
Given the Blues have the best defensive record in the league and only Charlton have scored fewer than Everton, there’s a good chance that record will be extended when the two clubs meet this weekend.
Buurman missed a great chance from a corner against Charlton and is bound to net her her first BWSL goal soon.
