Introducing Sukina Noor | The voice of the Subway Women’s League Cup Final

Ahead of WSL Football takeover of Bristol, Ashton Gate hosts the Subway Women’s League Cup Final, the excitement builds, the tunnel fills with the players ready to emerge onto the pitch, and as the atmosphere begins to turn into tension, the sound of Bristol City Poet Sukina Noor will fill the stands narrating the player walkouts to kick off match proceedings.
Sukina Noor was named Bristol City Poet in October 2024, and her work exemplifies themes of homecoming, belonging, and what Bristol means to its people. Traditionally, this role can become the city’s conscience and can also reflect on what makes the city tick. What they convey through their poetry and creative writing can provide important insights onto contemporary events and feelings.
So who better to welcome the teams, players and the WSL Football community than the voice who personifies the city’s creative talent. A poem which captures the essence of the final coming to Bristol, acknowledging Chelsea’s successful history in the competition and introducing their challengers, and first-time finalists, Manchester United.
Be sure to be in your seats ahead of 2.15pm to watch in full, until then, head to our new official WSL Football WhatsApp channel for a small preview ahead of the weekend!
