2 teams still perfect
Three rounds of fixtures into the season, Manchester City (BWSL) and Newcastle United (BWSL2) are the only two sides with 100% records.
Champions Man City made it three wins from three by coming from 2-1 down to beat Liverpool 4-2 in a thoroughly entertaining Friday night encounter at the Joie Stadium, sealing the deal with 90th and 95th-minute goals.
Newcastle also scored four goals en route to staying perfect, Martha Thomas bagging a brace in a comfortable 4-1 home win over Sheffield United.
3 teams yet to get off the mark
Conversely, three teams have lost their opening three matches: Charlton Athletic in the BWSL, and Durham and Sheffield United in the BWSL2.
Charlton have found it tough going in their first campaign back in top flight, conceding four goals for the second time as they were beaten by London City Lionesses at the Valley this weekend – though they did at least score their first goal of the campaign through Jodie Hutton.
As for Durham and Sheffield United, finding the net hasn’t been such a problem – but, evidently, keeping the ball out of their own has. They went down 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and 4-1 away to Newcastle respectively.
59 shots between goals for Arsenal
Arsenal preserved their unbeaten start to the season as substitute Smilla Holmberg’s 95th-minute goal salvaged a 1-1 home draw with Manchester United – and in scoring with their 17th and last attempt of the game, the Gunners finally found the net 59 shots since last doing so.
Their previous goal had come from their very first shot of the campaign, Lisa Baum’s strike securing a 1-0 opening-weekend victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.
That was one of 13 attempts Arsenal registered against Brighton, before they were unable to break down a stubborn Crystal Palace side in Matchweek 2 despite having 30 shots to their two – meaning they’ll have to wait until at least mid-October for their first home league triumph of 2026/27.
2 hat-tricks
Matchweek 3 gave us our first two hat-tricks of the season, courtesy of Tottenham Hotspur’s Olivia Holdt in the BWSL and Bristol City’s Rio Hardy in the BWSL2.
Holdt hit a second-half hat-trick as Spurs demolished Palace – who played most of the game a player light after Fuka Tsunoda’s seventh-minute red card – 7-0 away from home to make it two wins from three at the beginning of the season.
Hardy’s hat-trick also came in a comprehensive victory on the road as Bristol City ran out 5-1 winners against Watford – who finished with nine players, Lucy Lyon and Eva Gray both seeing red relatively late in the match.
30% of last season’s red cards already
With three players sent of in each of the last two Matchweeks, we’re already up to six red cards this term – exactly 30% of last season’s total across the BWSL and BWSL2, just under 8% of the way into the campaign.
That being said, the figure is rather skewed by a couple of unusual occurrences: after almost three years without a team in either division having two players dismissed in the same game, it’s already happened twice in 2026/27.
Before Watford this weekend, Charlton received two reds in their 1-0 loss to Everton in Matchweek 2, with Ashley Neville and Hawa Cissoko both given their marching orders.

Standout individual
For the second week running, Bunny Shaw leads the way for points in this season’s BWSL Fantasy.
Man City’s superstar striker was on the scoresheet for the third game out of three this term in her side’s 4-2 win over Liverpool and now has 34 Fantasy points to her name.
Second and third place in the rankings have changed hands, though: Shaw is closely followed by City teammate Lauren Hemp (33 points) and Chelsea’s Ellie Carpenter (31 points).
Top of the league
Holding onto top spot in the Barclays Season Race are Squeaky Brum Time, managed by Oliver Skanberg-Tippen.
With 96 points this week, they’re up to 319 overall – 10 points ahead of second-placed OnaBattleAfterAnothr, managed by Samo Bobnar.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Squeaky Brum Time line-up includes the aforementioned top three points scorers – while they also scored particularly highly through two-goal Martha Thomas of Newcastle (17 points) and Spurs’ Signe Gaupset (12 points, including six from two assists).
