Birmingham City Women are delighted to announce the signing of Norway international midfielder Lisa Naalsund from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
Naalsund joins Blues from Manchester United, where she made 74 appearances and scored eight goals after joining the club in January 2023, helping United lift the Adobe Women’s FA Cup in 2024.
The 31-year-old began her career with Tertnes at the age of six before making the move to Arna-Bjørnar in 2011, earning her senior debut the following year. In 2019, she joined Sandviken, which became Brann ahead of the 2022 season, and was named in the Toppserien Team of the Year in both 2020 and 2021. She went on to win back-to-back league titles with the Norwegian side before making the move to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2023.
Naalsund rose through the age groups at international level, representing Norway from Under-15 through to the senior squad. She made her senior debut in 2021 and has since earned 39 caps for her country.
Naalsund said: "When I had the chats with the club, they just gave me instantly a very good feeling about it. When you're debating which club to go to, it's always that feeling in your stomach, and that just decides where you go.
"This was the place that just excited me the most and the people were really nice. I think it's a really good project here, coming up to the WSL, and I feel like the future here can be quite bright. I'm just very excited to be a part of it."
Head Coach Amy Merricks said: “Lisa is a player who brings a huge amount of quality and experience to our squad. She has proven herself at the highest level in the WSL, enjoyed success throughout her career in Norway and has represented her country on the international stage for a number of years.
“She understands what it takes to compete at the top level and we’re looking forward to welcoming her into the group”.
