Khadija Shaw and Drew Spence cemented their place in the BWSL history books, Molly Bartrip rolled back the years and two unbeaten records ended across the two divisions.
Here are five stories you might have missed across the BWSL and BWSL2.
100 games, 91 goals
All eyes were on Khadija Shaw as her Manchester City side arrived at Leigh Sports Village for the Manchester derby on Sunday evening.
The Jamaica international made her 100th appearance in the competition and capped off the landmark achievement with her eighth goal of the season to put the Citizens ahead on 66 minutes.
A trademark finish from City’s number nine - a spin to get away from Dominique Janssen and a powerful finish past Phallon Tullis-Joyce - that strike took her to 91 goals in total in the competition, more goals than anyone else has managed in their first 100 games.
Although it wasn’t to be the perfect ending for Shaw and her City side as, in the 89th minute, Elisabeth Terland struck a late equaliser to ensure United secured an impressive point and ended their rivals' 100% record in the BWSL - stopping them from matching their best-ever start in the league, having won their opening seven games in 2017/18.
Four years in the making
As the clock went back an hour in the early hours of Sunday, Molly Bartrip rolled back the years at VBS Community Stadium by opening her account for Crystal Palace.
Facing an in-form Chelsea side, who had put six past Tottenham Hotspur just a week before, the newly-promoted side struck a surprise on 20 minutes when Bartrip tapped home at the back post from a corner to hand Palace the lead - the first time that Sonia Bompastor’s side had fallen behind this season.
As for the experienced defender, who made the switch to the Eagles in the summer from Spurs, that was her first BWSL goal in four years - her last strike coming for Spurs in their 8-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in October 2022. It was a history-making moment for Palace, with that goal being their first-ever against the Blues in the competition.
However, despite taking the opener, Chelsea fought back in Sutton as Melvine Malard struck twice before Sandy Baltimore converted from the penalty spot to send the eight-time winners top of the BWSL.
One appearance away
The north London derby is always one of the most anticipated fixtures in the football calendar - and there was even more excitement for this weekend’s clash with all the noise around the two teams.
Ultimately, it was Renee Slegers’ side who came out on top at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a much-needed 2-1 win over their local rivals - their first victory since the opening weekend in September.
While Spurs suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season, experienced midfielder Drew Spence marked a momentous occasion in north London.
Starting in the highly contested derby in N17, the 34-year-old equalled Millie Bright’s tally of 216 BWSL appearances and has the opportunity to become the all-time leading appearance holder next weekend when Spurs travel to Birmingham City.
Named Spurs’ captain for 2026/27, Spence has become the only player to feature in 17 BWSL campaigns (including Spring Series).
31 Goals. Six Games.
Moving away from the BWSL for now, there were plenty of goals in the BWSL2 across the weekend to keep the neutrals entertained.
Starting with a six-goal thriller at Vicarage Road as Watford defeated Durham 4-2 on Saturday, every team went on to score in the competition and, more impressively, every match produced at least four goals.
In total, there were 31 goals scored across six matches in the competition - an impressive 5.17 goals per game.
Ipswich Town made it six games unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Sunderland, handing the Black Cats their first defeat of the season in the process, while Newcastle United’s perfect start came to an end with a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest, with the Magpies having only conceded once in five games before the meeting at the City Ground.
Burnley’s goal rush
The newly-promoted Burnley side have picked up two points in their opening five games for their maiden campaign in England’s second division.
After important draws against Watford and Bristol City, one thing they have lacked in the opening months of the season is goals. Heading into the clash with Sheffield United, Burnley had only scored once in the BWSL2, with that goal dating all the way back to 13 September.
Not finding the back of the net in their last three games in the competition, Burnley struck three times at Turf Moor as Emma Siddall and Leah Galton handed their side a 2-1 lead at the break.
However, the Blades produced a second-half comeback as Halle Houssein, Ava Baker and Abbie Jones found the back of the net and, despite a stoppage-time own goal giving Burnley a small glimmer of hope, the home side remained winless in the league.
Although they failed to pick up any points, there will be plenty of positives for manager Jackie Bachteler to ultimately rediscover their goalscoring touch and confidence in front of goal.
