Young Lioness joins the Hammers

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of England U19 international Sienna Wareing, following her departure from fellow Barclays Women’s Super League side Manchester United.

The 18-year-old midfielder was joined by her proud family in east London as she penned her first professional contract, signing a deal at the Hammers until the summer of 2029.

Wareing spent seven years at the Red Devils and joins the Irons off the back of a successful 2025/26 campaign which saw her win Manchester United’s Academy U21 Player of the Year award, having helped her former side win the Professional Game Academy Plate last term.

Our fifth signing of the summer transfer window, Wareing, who will wear the No19 shirt, is excited to get started in Claret and Blue.

“I'm absolutely delighted to sign for West Ham United,” she said.

“The conversations I had with Rita and the staff really made me feel welcome and I can't wait to carry on my development here.

“Signing my first professional contract is such a proud moment for me and my family. I'm excited to get started when we return for pre-season and to meet all of my new teammates.”

A hard-working and creative midfielder, Wareing’s footballing journey began at the age of seven when she played for her local boys’ side Mill Hill Juniors before moving to Blackburn Rovers for three years.

She then had a successful trial at Manchester United and spent seven years with the Red Devils, progressing through their youth ranks and going on to shine in their Academy set-up.

Wareing, who featured six times for Liverpool Feds on a dual registration deal in the second half of last season, played a crucial part in Manchester United’s Professional Game Academy Plate success, as she scored the winning goal and put in a Player of the Match performance against Durham in the showpiece.

Wareing’s 2025/26 season was enhanced by receiving her first Young Lionesses call-up in April, and she made three appearances for England U19s in their 2026 UEFA Women’s U19 European Championship qualification campaign.

Head Coach Rita Guarino is delighted to welcome Wareing to east London and add another exciting young player to her squad.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Sienna to the Club,” she said.

“Sienna is a player that we believe has a lot of potential. She is a creative midfielder who can make things happen in the final third.

“She has recently made her debut for England U19s and I’m sure that she will continue to progress here in east London in a West Ham shirt in years to come.”
