A dramatic weekend saw Chelsea lose for the first time in over a year, Manchester City strengthen their lead at the top, and Tottenham complete a late turnaround. Here is a quick reminder of what happened in Gameweek 10 as we head into the next round of fixtures.
Arsenal edge Liverpool
Olivia Smith scored against her former club to give Arsenal the lead before Beata Olsson equalised with her seventh goal in five matches. Stina Blackstenius struck late to secure the win for the hosts.
Next up Arsenal travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday, meanwhile Liverpool have a quick turnaround following their 3-0 loss to Aston Villa on Thursday night as they travel back to the Capital to face West Ham United.
Shaw keeps City in control
Khadija Shaw scored twice in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City. Her goals keep her top of the scoring charts and extend City’s unbeaten run as Leicester continue to search for their first league win since September.
Manchester City stay at home in Gameweek 11 when they face Aston Villa, for The Foxes they host London City Lionesses.
Late drama lifts Spurs
Tottenham and Aston Villa produced a lively second half. Villa went down to ten but still took the lead through Kirsty Hanson. Bethany England equalised moments later and Olivia Holdt won it deep into stoppage time to keep Spurs pushing for European places.
A trip to Manchester is next instore for Tottenham Hotspur to take on Marc Skinner's United.
Manchester United and Brighton claim wins
Manchester United beat West Ham 2-1 with goals from Elisabeth Terland and Dominique Janssen either side of Shekiera Martinez’s bicycle kick. Brighton also collected three points as Kiko Seike’s early strike proved enough against London City Lionesses.
Brighton return to home soil this weekend as they look to take on Chelsea.
Everton end Chelsea’s long run
Everton stunned the champions as Honoka Hayashi scored the only goal to end Chelsea’s 585 day unbeaten streak. The result leaves the Blues six points off the top ahead of the coming weekend.
