Nottingham Forest Women are delighted to announce the signing of versatile defender Abbie Lafayette on a two-year deal.
Having progressed through the ranks at Ipswich Town, the 24-year-old has been a regular in the WSL2 at both Watford and most recently at Sheffield United, bringing valuable experience with her to Forest.
A mainstay in the Watford team during the 2023/24 season resulted in a move to the Blades and having established herself in her first campaign in Sheffield, Lafayette played every minute in the league in the recent 2025/26 season.
Signing until the summer of 2028, everyone at the Club wishes her well as she settles into life on Trentside.
Upon signing, Lafayette said: “It’s a great setup here. I’ve heard a lot of positive things from a lot of people so it’s a great feeling to be signing for the Club and I’m really excited.
“I’ve learned and grown a lot in the past few seasons playing at this level and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience here. I’m an aggressive defender, I like to get stuck in and I’m passionate, which is what fans can expect to see from me.
“I’m joining an ambitious Club with high expectations for the season ahead, and hopefully something great will come at the end of it.”
Head Coach, Tom Mallinson, said: “Signing players who have an understanding of the level required is important and Abbie has performed consistently in this division in the past few seasons.
“Abbie is versatile, she gives a lot to the team going forward but also has a solidity to her game in how she defends which is a great mix. At 24-years-old, she also has potential to develop further as a player which makes it a signing I’m really pleased to have confirmed. We are looking forward to working with Abbie and welcoming her to the Forest family.”
