Newcastle United Women are delighted to announce the signing of striker Kathleen McGovern.

The Scotland international joins Tanya Oxtoby’s side after recently departing Scottish Women’s Premier League side Hibernian.

In her time with Hibs, the 24-year-old netted 51 goals in 65 appearances and was part of the side that won the SWPL title in the 2024/25 season.

Kathleen has also spent time with Hearts, SC Sand in Germany, and Celtic, where she won the SWPL Cup.

After making her Scotland debut in 2024, the striker has gone on to score 10 goals in 14 appearances.

Kathleen said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. I know how big the club is and I couldn’t wait to be part of it, I knew this was the next step for me.

“I want to help the club to achieve promotion. I’m a winner, I want to score goals and that’s what I’m here to do.”

Manager, Tanya Oxtoby, said: “Kathleen is a proven striker whose goalscoring record at both club and international level in recent seasons speaks for itself.

“She is powerful, energetic and clinical. We are really pleased to be adding a player of her profile to the squad and look forward to working with her.”
