Newcastle United Women are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Hildur Antonsdóttir.
The Icelandic international joins the Magpies following the expiry of her contract with Liga F side Madrid CFF.
In the Spanish capital she made 57 appearances in two seasons, following a move from Fortuna Sittard in 2024.
Prior to that she spent 11 years in her homeland featuring for Breiðablik and Valur, and it was at the former where she would win two league titles, three Icelandic Cups and two Icelandic League Cups.
Internationally, Hildur has 36 caps to her name and represented her country at the UEFA Women’s Euros in 2025.
On joining the Magpies, Hildur said: “I’m really happy to be here. Newcastle is obviously a big club, and I’m really honoured and proud to be able to represent this badge.
“The club has big goals and that is something I want to play for. I will give everything every game and every training session.”
Manager Tanya Oxtoby added: “We are delighted to be welcoming Hildur to the club. She has all of the attributes that we have been looking to add to our midfield; she is tactically intelligent and has an outstanding ability in possession.
“Hildur adds further international pedigree to our team and has also shown her quality in some of Europe’s top leagues. We are looking forward to working with her.”
