Can the American Winger dazzle her way into your team?

Club: Chelsea
Position: Midfielder
Price: £8.0m
Last Season Points Tally: 108

Alyssa Thompson has always been a player who has caught the attention of many, none more so than eight-time Barclays Women's Super League champions Chelsea, who broke their transfer record on Deadline Day of the 2025 summer transfer window to sign the highly rated American prospect from Angel City FC for a club record fee of just under £1 million.

It was a big move from a team who at the time were the defending champions, though Chelsea could only manage to finish third in the Barclays Women's Super League last season. Thompson had a brilliant first season with the Blues, with seven goals and three assists in 20 games, earning her a spot in the EA Sports BWSL team of the season.

The American youngster was also nominated for the BWSL Player of the Year.

Ahead of the new Barclays WSL and WSL2 Fantasy game, Thompson could be an extremely valuable asset for players to consider.

The USWNT international is priced at £8.0 million, which is tied as the second-highest-priced midfielder in the game, meaning she will likely be a premium asset for any players who want her.

Last season, Thompson scored 108 points, which left her ranked 21st for the highest-scoring midfielders in 2025/26.

So what makes the winger stand out as one to watch? Last season, Thompson created the third most chances among wingers in the Barclays Women's Super League with 32. That total was also the most of any Chelsea player in 2025/26.

Her 10 goal contributions were also the joint fourth for wingers in the Barclays Women's Super League.

Sonia Bompastor’s side have also made significant improvements in attack, with the signings of Manaka Matsukubo from NC Courage and Melvine Malard from Manchester United. Aggie Beever-Jones is also someone who will add firepower to that Chelsea frontline. All of these attackers will only benefit Thompson.

In Fantasy, minutes are always key, and Thompson was very good for that last season, playing in 20 of the Blues' 22 Barclays Women's Super League matches, and starting in 16 of them, meaning that although she is priced at a premium, she will likely play a large number of minutes.

In Barclays WSL and WSL2 Fantasy, every decision you make will be key, but 2026/27 could be a season that sees Alyssa Thompson rise to meteoric levels.
