Emily Fox may be a smart Fantasy gamble
Dutch defender, Kerstin Casparij, is the most expensive defender on the game this season priced at £8 million, and with good reason. After a standout campaign for Manchester City, the right back would have recorded 147 points, making her one of the most exciting defensive options in the new Barclays WSL and WSL2 Fantasy Football game.
Named in the team of the Season, and crowned November’s Player of the Month, Casparij is the perfect example of the modern-day fullback. Defensively reliable while offering a constant attacking threat, she often operates as an additional winger in possession. Flourishing in her role, the Dutch international registered three goals and seven assists last season, as she became only the third defender in BWSL history to register double digit goal contributions in one season.
Casparij was quick to credit head coach Andrée Jeglertz for giving her attacking freedom, stating that “we get so much freedom and also trust and responsibility.”
Since joining Manchester City from Twente in July 2022, Casparij has surpassed 100 appearances for the club. She featured in 21 games last season as she helped Manchester City lift the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League and FA Cup to complete the double for the first time in the club’s history.
More than an attacking threat
Her appeal as a Fantasy asset goes well beyond her attacking returns. Casparij collected seven clean sheets last season, while averaging 2.8 tackles per 90, 3.7 ball recoveries, and 2.1 clearances per game.
Those numbers give the Manchester City defender multiple routes to points, with her defensive work offering further potential for bonus points alongside her ability to contribute at the other end of the pitch.

A constant threat down the right
It is her attacking style, though, that sets her apart from others. Blessed with pace and freedom to attack the right flank, Kerstin Casparij is a constant threat and has developed an impressive understanding with City’s attacking stars. When asked about her offensive style she told Alex Scott that “I'm really enjoying our offensive style of play this year and linking up with Bunny [Shaw] and all the other incredible forwards that we have. It's just been a joy to work. I go every day with a smile on my face.”
At £8 million, Casparij comes at a premium, but Fantasy managers are paying for a defender capable of delivering points in almost every area of the game as she offers chances for clean sheets, goals, and assists. If last season is anything to go by, the Manchester City star could be worth every penny.
First Five fixtures
Casparij started last season quickly too, notching two goals and two assists in Manchester City’s opening five Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures, and she’ll be hoping to do the same again this year.
