Player selection trends heading into Sunday's fixtures.

Another gameweek is in progress, and with it comes another round of Fantasy decisions.

Some players have strengthened their case with impressive performances in the last gameweek, while others may have left their owners wondering whether it is time to make a change following Saturday's Manchester United v Liverpool outcome.

Do you hold your nerve with those players who have already played, or go to your bench?

With Sunday's fixtures quickly approaching, here are five high-owned players causing dilemmas for Fantasy users today.

Alexia Putellas: £8.5m - 51% ownership

The Spanish midfielder has wasted little time reminding Fantasy managers why she was one of the most popular players heading into the season, with 24 points to her name this campaign.

Putellas sits third in the most-owned players, behind Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw and Hannah Hampton, after her first Barclays Women's Super League goal against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The London City Lionesses captain is now the third-most transferred-in player after her maiden BWSL goal, rewarding managers who kept faith in the two-time Ballon D'or winner. She has also started all four of London City’s BWSL games so far.

After taking time to adapt to a new league, that goal could be the sign that Putellas is beginning to find her rhythm. But Fantasy managers now have a decision to make with Tottenham next.

Spurs have impressive heavily this season and shown they can be difficult to break down, conceding just two goals this season. However if there's open player to open up the Lilywhites' backline, surely it's Putellas.

Alessia Russo: £11.5m - 47% ownership

However, the biggest dilemma ahead of Gameweek 5 appears to be regarding Alessia Russon. The Arsenal striker is yet to find the back of the net in an Arsenal time who are struggling to find their normal fluidity in attack.

And price at £11.5m - the second-most expensive player in the game - is it worth switching to a cheaper attacking alternative who is providing returns? That seems to be the question that Fantasy users are asking themselves.

631 managers have already transferred her out - the highest figure in the game - but 17,623 have remained loyal to the forward and her previous form.

There is good reason for their faith in the Lionesses after an impressive 2025/26 BWSL campaign. Russo bagged 13 goals and 6 assists last campaign, making her one of Arsenal's most consistent sources of attacking returns.

Her current numbers suggest the goals are not necessarily a long way away. She has had 12 shots across Arsenal's opening four league games, with seven coming in the goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

The problem is that Arsenal are struggling to turn those opportunities into goals. They've scored just twice from 78 shots, meaning Russo's lack of returns can't be viewed separate from the team's performance.

However, with reigning champions Manchester City up next, it will be a tough fixture for Russo to bag her first goal of the season versus a side she has scored just one league goal against.

Hannah Hampton: £5.5m - 54% ownership

Finding a reliable goalkeeper in Fantasy can be difficult, with managers often having to balance cleansheet potential, fixture difficulty and value when making their decision between the posts.

However, Hampton has given Fantasy users plenty of reason to trust her so far. The Chelsea goalkeeper has conceded just one goal this season, the fewest in the division.

Priced at just £5.5m, it is no surprise to see over 20,000 Fantasy users transfer her into their teams ahead of Gameweek 5 when West Ham United visit the Blues.

The Hammers have scored in all-bar-one of their leage fixtures this term but have struggled in recent times to convert against the west London side. In fact, their last BWSL goal against Chelsea came in March 2025, making Hampton an attractive option with another cleansheet a real possibility.

Kaitlyn Torpey: £4m - 8% ownership

Some Fantasy managers can be reluctant to tranfer in cheaper alternatives, fearing that a lower price reflects a lack of quality.

But in Torpey's case, her price looks more like a steal than a warning sign.

With 3,140 managers transferring her in - the highest figure among BWSL2 players - Fantasy managers are clearly aware of her value.

The Newcastle United defender has already registered one goal and one assist, while the Magpies sit top of the BWSL2 table after a perfect start.

They have won their opening four games, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one. Therefore, Torpey's attacking returns make a strong case for her value, particularly when she can also benefit from points at the back.

Up next is an-all North East clash as Newcastle travel to Durham, who sit bottom of the table and without a point to their name.

With Newcastle flying and Torpey already contributing at both ends of the pitch, there's little reason to be put off by her low price tag.

Katy Watson: £6.5m - 7% ownership

Continuing with BWSL2, Katy Watson is appearing to pose a different dilemma to Fantasy users.

The Sunderland midfielder is already among the top 10 highest-scoring BWSL2 players, but her recent returns have slowed.

The 20-year-old has failed to score or assist in her last two games, leaving Fantasy managers wondering whether her early season momentum has started to fade.

An impressive opening game of the BWSL2 season saw Watson bag two goals and one assist against Bristol City, but with Leicester City on the horizon, should users hope for another strong attacking performance or look elsewhere?

The last time the sides met was in early 2023 in the League Cup, with the Foxes runnign out 5-0 winners. Both clubs have changed significantly since then, making it difficult to use their past meetings as a reliable indication of what to expect this time around.

Watson's position among the division's highest scorers means there is plenty of evidence in favour of patience. The question is whether Fantasy managers believe attacking returns are around the corner or whether her price can be better spent on a midfielder currently producing.

Stick or twist? Of all the decisions ahead of Gameweek 5, Watson is perhaps the hardest to call. Two blanks don't erase what she has already produced, but with Leicester an unknown, managers may be tempted to twist.
