The week's top scorer was captained by just 0.06% of managers three times in Leg 1. Here's what the data says about the armband.

Your captain scores double points, which makes the armband the biggest decision you make each gameweek. So how did Fantasy managers get on in Leg 1?

The captain almost nobody picked

In three of the five gameweeks, only around 1 in 1,700 managers captained that week's top scorer.

The best single captain pick of the leg was Holdt in Gameweek 3. She returned 46 points for the 21 managers who backed her, at a time when the average captain return was just 10.66.

Shaw was the most popular captain by a distance, and she delivered. Russo was the second most popular choice, but returned more than five points below the average captain.

The smartest call was Hemp. She averaged 20.03 points as captain, the best of the leg's popular picks, yet only around 2% of captaincies went her way.

What it means for Leg 2

The safe pick worked, but the biggest captain returns came from players in form rather than the biggest names. Shaw remains a strong default; Hemp and Carpenter are the alternatives the data backs.
