The winners of the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 awards for February have now been confirmed.

Firstly, Crystal Palace’s Ashleigh Weerden has been named as Player of the Month after emerging victorious in the combined public and panel vote.

Weerden saw returns in all three of the Eagles’ February fixtures, scoring their only goal in a 3-1 defeat to Southampton, before bagging the all-important winner in their comeback against Bristol City as she rifled home from an impossible angle in a Player of the Match display.

She then turned provider in an impressive 3-1 victory away at Birmingham City, adding two assists to her month’s tally.

Southampton’s Ellie Brazil, Charlton Athletic’s Lucy Fitzgerald and Ipswich Town’s Sophie Peskett were also in contention for the monthly gong, but Weerden secured the trophy for the first time.

Durham’s Lucy Watson meanwhile has earned the Goal of the Month accolade for her effort against Birmingham City.

The strike against the Blues topped the voting polls, with goals from Player of the Month winner Weerden (v Southampton), Newcastle United’s Beth Lumsden (v Ipswich Town), Charlton Athletic pair Lucy Fitzgerald and Karin Muya (v Nottingham Forest and Durham), and Ipswich’s Sophie Peskett (v Newcastle United) also having been in contention.

Finally, the League Managers’ Association have announced that Newcastle United’s Tanya Oxtoby has been voted Barclays WSL2 Manager of the Month for February.

The Magpies were unbeaten in their three league outings, taking seven points from a possible nine to lift themselves up to fifth in the division’s standings courtesy of a pair of 2-0 wins over Southampton and Portsmouth, and a draw against Ipswich Town.
