The overview
Last season: 7th (BWSL)
This season expectations: Mid-table, aiming to challenge for a UWCL spot.
Next up is Brighton, and they've enjoyed some really solid mid-table finishes in recent seasons. This time around, it’s likely they will want to challenge for a UWCL spot, which, for Fantasy purposes, makes them a pick-and-choose team. They can beat anyone on their day and have some players who could be top choices in your fantasy team.
Dario Vidošić's side is built around a very smart, technical core rather than one big goal machine. Kiko Seike was the standout last season. She’s an electric winger who chipped in with 8 goals and ran at defenders all afternoon, averaging 3.58 dribbles and 3.25 crosses per 90. She’s exactly the kind of busy attacker who will stack up points even in quiet games thanks to her relentless carrying and pressing abilities.
The biggest arrival for Brighton is a real coup. Lia Wälti joins from Juventus, a hugely experienced international who'll anchor the midfield and lift the whole side. Emilie Joråmo comes in from Hammarby and the ever-dynamic Sophie Peskett from Ipswich to add attacking option. It's already been an impressive summer window that should keep Brighton comfortably mid-table at least.
The one name to watch is, of course, Fran Kirby. When fit and firing, she's one of the most creative players in the league. The former Lioness could be a real bargain and a smart way to rack up those fantasy points against your mates.
Set-piece takers
Corners: Kirby and Marisa Olislagers took the bulk of these last season, and both remain, so they're your two to track for those assist points. Olislagers, taking them from left-back, makes her a really good option as a defender.
Penalties: Madison Haley stepped up last season and looks the likely taker again. A striker on spot-kicks is always worth noting for that guaranteed goal threat.
Direct free kicks: Maisie Symonds took most of the direct efforts, but it could be up for grabs depending on the new additions.
Player costs
Brighton actually sit in that mid-price bracket where the smart-money picks live.
Seike (£7.0m) is the one to build around; all that dribbling, crossing and goal threat from the wing makes her a strong pick without a premium tag. Fran Kirby (£6.0m) is certainly a gamble worth taking; on her day, she racks up assists and key passes from midfield.
Up front, Haley (£6.5m) offers goals plus penalties, a useful combination at a sensible price. And in midfield, new signing Lia Wälti (£5.5m) won't flood you with attacking returns but gets through a mountain of defensive work, the sort of quietly productive player this scoring system rewards.
