How to play
Pick a squad of 15 players from the Barclays WSL and Barclays WSL2 within a £100m budget.
Each matchweek, choose 11 starters, set the bench order and name a captain. Players score points based on what they do in real matches.
Is the game free?
- Yes. There is no entry fee, purchase requirement or payment at any stage.
What does my squad need to include?
- Your squad must contain exactly 15 players: 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards.
Can I pick any mix of BWSL and BWSL2 players?
Yes. But you don't have to.
You can pick players from one singular league or combine
All players from both leagues are available to choose from in one combined pool.
There is no limit by league, but you can select no more than 3 players from any one club.
What formations can I use?
- Your starting XI must have 1 goalkeeper, at least 3 defenders, at least 2 midfielders and at least 1 forward. You can change formation every matchweek as long as those minimums are met.
Do bench players score points?
- Not unless they are brought into the team by an automatic substitution.
How do I create/join a private league
Private leagues are easy to create
Users should go the Leagues section and choose to create a league.
Once give a name, and you will be given a unique code and a link you can share with people you want to join
Whoever creates the league becomes its administrator and you can create as many private leagues as you like, and run different ones for different groups
How many leagues can I join, and how big can they get?
You can be a member of up to 50 leagues at once. That includes the leagues you are entered into automatically.
There is no limit on how many people can join a private league.
Every league you are in has two tables running side by side: one for the whole season, and one for the Leg currently being played.
Which leagues am I in automatically?
You are entered into the overall league, which contains every manager playing the game.
You are also entered into a league for each club you select as a favourite on the app
Club leagues rank you against other supporters of the same club, so you are always competing against people who care about the same team.
Being entered into these leagues does not sign you up to receive marketing from anyone, and it is separate from any choice you make about hearing from your clubs.
Can people join my league part-way through the season?
There is no closing date and people can join at any point.
Because of the leg structure, every league has a table for the current Leg as well as a season-long table, and the Leg table resets to zero for everyone six times a season.
Can I leave a league, remove someone, or delete one?
You can leave any private league yourself, at any time. You do not need the administrator to do it for you.
If you are the administrator, you can remove a member from your league.
You can also delete a league you created, but you have to remove every member first. Once the league is empty, you can delete it.
How many matchweeks are there?
The season has 26 matchweeks.
The Barclays WSL plays across all 26, while the Barclays WSL2 plays 22 rounds.
When is the transfer deadline each matchweek?
Transfers close at the first kick-off of the matchweek, across both competitions.
Deadlines are shown in UK time and may vary from week to week.
Can I change my team after the first match has kicked off?
- You cannot make transfers during a matchweek, but you may change your starting XI, bench order and captain between match days if the players involved have not yet played.
What happens once a player's match kicks off?
- That player is locked for the rest of the matchweek. They cannot be moved into or out of the starting XI, moved to or from the bench, or given or removed as captain.
What is a Leg?
- A Leg is a block of matchweeks. The season is divided into six Legs, and each leg has its own leaderboard.
What resets at the start of a new Leg?
- The leg table resets to zero and a new Wildcard becomes available. Your squad, budget, purchase prices, captain, bench order, leagues, season points and saved free transfers carry over.
How do season and leg tables differ?
The season table counts every point scored since joining and does not reset.
The leg table counts only points scored during the current leg and resets at each leg boundary.
What does the captain do?
The captain's full score is doubled, including positive points, bonus points and any deductions.
There is no vice-captain.
When do automatic substitutions happen?
- They are applied after all matches in the matchweek are complete. They are not processed in real time.
Who can be automatically substituted?
- A starter who plays no minutes can be replaced. A player who plays any part of a match, even one minute, is not substituted.
How does the bench order work?
Outfield substitutes are considered in bench order.
A substitute is only brought on if the resulting XI still meets the formation minimums.
Does the captaincy move if my captain does not play?
- No. If the captain does not play, no double score is applied and the captaincy does not pass to another player.
How many free transfers do I get?
You receive 2 free transfers each matchweek.
Unused free transfers carry over, up to a maximum of 5.
What happens if I make more transfers than my free allowance?
Each extra transfer costs 4 points.
Transfer costs are deducted from your Leg total and season total, but not from your matchweek score.
Do saved free transfers reset at the start of a new Leg?
No. Saved free transfers carry across Legs.
They only reset when a Booster Card is played.
Do I make money if a player's price rises?
No. A player is always sold for the price you paid for her.
Price changes only affect the cost of buying players you do not already own.
What Booster Cards are available?
The Booster Cards are the Wildcard and the Free Hit.
There is no Bench Boost and no Triple Captain.
What does the Wildcard do?
It gives unlimited transfers in one matchweek with no points cost.
All squad rules and the £100m budget still apply.
One Wildcard is available per Leg and unused Wildcards do not carry over.
What does the Free Hit do?
It allows unlimited changes for one matchweek only.
After the matchweek, your squad reverts to what it was before the Free Hit.
When can I use the Free Hit?
It is available only in matchweeks where one competition is playing and the other is not
In 2026/27, those matchweeks are MW6, MW8, MW11, MW12, MW15 and MW26.
How do players score points?
Players score for minutes played, goals, assists, clean sheets, goalkeeper saves, penalty saves, involvement actions and bonus points.
They can lose points for yellow cards, red cards, own goals, penalty misses and goals conceded by goalkeepers or defenders.
What are involvement points?
Players earn 1 attacking involvement point for every 4 combined shots on target, key passes, successful crosses and successful dribbles.
They earn 1 defensive involvement point for every 10 combined tackles won, interceptions, clearances, blocks and recoveries.
Are involvement points capped?
- No. Involvement points are not capped and apply to all positions.
How do bonus points work?
- The three best performers in each match earn 3, 2 and 1 bonus points. If players are tied, each tied player receives the full points for the highest place in the tie and skipped places are not re-awarded.
What happens in a double matchweek?
- If a club plays twice in one matchweek, its players can score in both matches and all points from both matches count. If your captain plays twice, her score is doubled in both matches.
What happens in a blank matchweek?
- Players from a competition with no fixtures score nothing. They are treated like any other player who did not play and may be replaced by an automatic substitution if eligible.
What happens if a match is postponed?
- Points from a postponed match count in the matchweek and leg in which the match is eventually played. They are never carried back to the original matchweek or leg.
Which leagues can I enter?
Every manager is automatically entered into the overall league and into the league for the club they selected as their favourite in. the app.
Managers can also create or join private leagues.
Who can play?
- The minimum age to hold an account and play is 13. Anyone under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian.
Can managers outside the UK win prizes?
Prizes are available worldwide except to residents of Excluded Territories. Where a prize is won outside the UK, an alternative may be offered if the original prize is an experience or cannot be shipped.
Any current Barclays WSL or WSL2 players who participate are not eligible to win prizes
Does using a Booster Card affect prize eligibility?
- No. Using a Wildcard or Free Hit does not affect eligibility for any prize.
