The Ultimate Scoring Midfielder

Club: Tottenham Hotspur
Position: Midfielder
Price: £8m
Last Season Points Tally: 130 (8th highest midfielder)

Every player’s time-line is different. Some have their breakout season as a teen starlet. While for others the journey to the top may be a windier one, with your landmark year later in your career.

That’s definitely been the case for new Tottenham Hotspur star Kirsty Hanson. The 28-year-old plundered 12 goals last season for former club Aston Villa - only Man City’s Bunny Shaw and Arsenal’s Alessia Russo scored more in the 2025/26 BWSL campaign.

This impressive goal haul got the whole league talking, but it was Spurs who made the move for the attacker.

Hanson’s career may have catapulted since arriving at Aston Villa in 2022, but the Scottish international played in the BWSL in red of Manchester United as a youngster.

Having helped the Red Devils to the BWSL2 title, she struggled for goals in her three seasons with United in the top flight. The club had brought in a raft of new signings during the first two years in the BWSL, including a young Russo and experienced USA internationals Christen Press and Tobin Heath.

A loan move to Aston Villa proved to be the reprieve she needed. The clean slate to showcase her own talents.

The 12 goals she bagged last season, though, was the best of her career. Hanson’s wonder-strike against West Ham, also saw her claim the BWSL Goal of the Season award.

But having swapped Birmingham for North London this summer, she will have to hit the ground running.

Spurs’ top scorer was midfielder Olivia Hodt with eight goals last season, while striker Cathinka Tandberg bagged six. But she will have big shoes to fill, with Bethany England departing for Crystal Palace in the off-season.

Hanson was all about goals last season, which is great for point-scoring, but only registered one assist, on the way to racking up 130 fantasy points (8th highest midfielder in 2025/26).

With so much fire-power and creativity around her, it’ll be interesting to see how Spurs manager Martin Ho allows the Scot to thrive in her new environment.

She is classified as a midfielder in the game and played most of her career either on the left or in attacking midfield this versatility makes Hanson a ‘must buy’ in this season’s Barclays WSL and WSL2 Fantasy football.

Hanson racked up 1683 minutes over 22 games in the league. The attacker, priced up at £8.0m ahead of the upcoming campaign, is in the richest vein of form, having found her feet at Villa as a striker.

A rare breed in the game, an ‘out of position’ goldmine, by playing further up the pitch as a winger or forward, but scoring points as a midfielder can make Hanson one of the most sought-after picks across the whole league.
