BRITISH GAS SAVE OF THE MONTH SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER AWARD WINNERS CONFIRMED

The winners of the British Gas Save of the Month awards for the opening two months of the campaign in both the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (BWSL2) have been confirmed.
During the first month of the season, Leicester City’s Janina Leitzig emerged victorious in the voting polls for the British Gas September Save of the Month for the BWSL, with her impressive save against league-leaders Chelsea earning her the inaugural accolade of its kind.
Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce (v Arsenal), Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton (v Aston Villa), Everton’s Courtney Brosnan (v Tottenham Hotspur) and Spurs’ Lize Kop (v West Ham United) were also in contention.
Ipswich Town shot stopper Natalia Negri scooped the British Gas September Save of the Month in BWSL2 courtesy of her save against Nottingham Forest, seeing off the challenge of Newcastle’s Femke Liefting (v Charlton Athletic), Charlton’s Sophie Whitehouse (v Newcastle) and Durham’s Catriona Sheppard (v Crystal Palace).
Moving into October, it was another strong month as keepers across both divisions battled it out to take the monthly title.
In the top flight, Leicester City’s Leitzig (v Aston Villa) and United’s Tullis-Joyce (v Chelsea) were again in contention, alongside Brighton’s Chiamaka Nnadozie (v Spurs), Everton’s Emily Ramsey (v Manchester United) and Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar (v Brighton).
It was the latter however who took the crown, with Daphne van Domselaar’s save against the Seagulls coming out on top in the British Gas October Save of the Month stakes for the BWSL.
After missing out the month prior, Charlton’s Sophie Whitehouse scooped the British Gas October Save of the Month for the BWSL2 courtesy of her save against Sheffield United, defeating Crystal Palace’s Shae Yanez (v Newcastle), Sunderland’s Grace Moloney (v Charlton), Portsmouth’s Jess Gray (v Nottingham Forest) and September winner Negri (v Birmingham City).
