Wilde pens 2-year deal ahead of debut season for Burnley

Maddi Wilde is the latest new face to join Burnley Women at an exciting time in the team’s history, with their debut Barclays Women’s Super League 2 season now less than eight weeks away.

The two-time BWSL2 winner has agreed a two-year deal with the Clarets following her departure from London City Lionesses earlier this summer.

When asked to describe her emotions after signing on the dotted line, she started by saying: “I’m buzzing!

“It’s quite exciting to come into a completely new environment, a new place, and a new home.

“It’s obviously a little bit nerve wracking at the start as well of concourse, but I’m excited for a fresh start which is important to me.

“I watch a lot of football, so I think that I can read the game quite well. I like to try and be smart, forward-thinking, and creative, and hopefully that can show on the pitch.”

Wilde’s career started with Bristol City, where she made 15 appearances as the Robins won promotion in the 2022/23 season.

Then came a season-long loan to London City Lionesses in the summer of 2023, and Wilde went on to sign a two-year deal there in 2024.

The Lionesses earned 43 points to finish top of BWSL2 in 2024/25 and after a few months as part of their BWSL squad, the right-back joined Celtic in February of this year.

She earned regular minutes north of the border and added yet more silverware to her CV in the form of the Scottish Cup.

Now 22, Wilde will be aiming to continue her development in Lancashire and has joined the Women’s team in time for the start of pre-season testing and training.
