Codie Thomas has joined Nottingham Forest Women on loan for the 2026/27 season.
The Manchester City defender arrives on Trentside having spent the previous campaign in Scotland, at Glasgow City.
Born in Stockport, Thomas joined Manchester City at the age of nine and the 19-year-old has since progressed through the academy to be involved in the first team setup.
Thomas made her debut for City in the Champions League, against St Polten in October 2024.
Primarily operating on the right-hand side of the defence, Thomas is also an England Youth International and last year remained a part of the Young Lionesses.
On signing for Forest, Thomas said: "I'm really excited to be here and to get started. Last season, I had the opportunity to play in the SWPL with Glasgow City, where I learned a lot from spending time away from home for the first time. Coming here now is a great opportunity and one I'm really looking forward to.
"When the opportunity to join Forest came up, I had the chance to speak with Tom. His ideas, ambition and motivation to succeed really stood out to me and made the decision an easy one. It feels like a really exciting time to be joining the club.
"As a player, I've always enjoyed the defensive side of the game, and I feel my 1v1 defending and pace are among my biggest strengths. I enjoy getting forward to contribute with assists and, hopefully, a few goals too.
"I know everyone here is ambitious for the season ahead, and I believe we can have a great year together. I'm looking forward to getting involved with the team, meeting the girls and building relationships both on and off the pitch."
Head Coach, Tom Mallinson added: “Codie is a player with extremely high potential and will add further balance to our squad. She’s a young player with a lot of ambition and her development at City and out on loan playing senior football last season means she has good experience, too.
“Codie is a strong defender; she enjoys that side of the game and has the ability to contribute at the other end of the pitch, too. We are thrilled she’s joined us for the year and I’m sure she will make an impact during the season.”
Everyone at the Club welcomes Codie, wishing her the very best for the year ahead.
