Loan turned permanent for Mayling at Leicester City

Leicester City are delighted to announce that defender Sarah Mayling has returned to LCFC Women in a permanent transfer from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee, subject to league approval.

The 29-year-old returns to King Power Stadium, signing a three-year contract, having spent the second half of the 2025/26 Barclays Women's Super League season on loan in Leicestershire.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Sarah said: “During my time here, everyone made me feel welcome and valued, I’m buzzing to be back permanently.

“I think we’re in a whole new phase now; we’re trying to rebuild the team. It’s about sticking together, embracing the challenge and going for it.

“You have to be ambitious. This league is really hard to get out of, we know that, but as a squad, we want to be back in the top league so we need to use pre-season to get ready, and bring on the season.”

A mainstay of our Foxes XI last season, Sarah started all of her 12 loan appearances with the Club and, in doing so, crossed the line to achieve 100 career appearances in the top flight of English football.

The right back bolsters our defensive options heading into the new season and joins Leah Eddie as permanent additions to our LCFC Women First Team.

The former England youth international has now joined back up with the squad in familiar surroundings at Belvoir Drive as preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign.
