Can The Robins make it back to the BWSL?

The overview

Last season: 4th (BWSL2)

This season expectations: Promotion Favourites

For this next club overview, we are heading into BWSL 2 and Bristol City. Now this is a team who are a proper attacking watch. They netted 47 goals last season, more than anyone else in the league, and only just missed out on the promotion places. This year they'll fancy going a step further, and if you’re looking at players to rack up the points in the second tier, they're one of the first places to look.

The catch is that their 10-goal top scorer, Lexi Lloyd-Smith, has moved on to Crystal Palace, so that's a chunk of last season's goals out the door. However, plenty of the firepower is still there, though. Rio Hardy chipped in with nine and took the penalties. Emily Syme is the creative heartbeat, a proper get-involved player who racked up assists, corners and crosses by the barrowload. Syme would have been one of the top point scorers based on our Fantasy scoring system with 146 last season, so if she starts this season in the same vein, she should be a shoo-in for your midfield.

There's a familiar face in Sophie Ingle, the Wales stalwart, who brings a bit of top-flight class and know-how to the middle of the park, and Charlotte Healy has added more depth along with the likes of Brooke Aspin arriving from Chelsea. This is a squad built to have a real go at promotion, which usually means goals, and goals mean Fantasy points.

Set-piece takers

Corners: Emily Syme is your one here, no contest. She took the majority of corners last season; she's Bristol's standout for set-piece value.

Penalties: Rio Hardy is the name. She tucked away a few from the spot last season and remains at the club, so a striker who scores from open play and takes the pens is a great Fantasy combination.

Direct free kicks: Emily Syme again, most likely to have a shot from distance.

Player costs

Bristol are the team to look at if you want to add some big BWSL 2 names to your team.

Rio Hardy is the biggest name and comes at a cost (£8.0m), but for that money you’re getting a striker who gives you goals from play and penalties on top. Fancy a creative option instead? Look no further than Emily Syme, she does a bit of everything, goals, assists, corners, crosses, so the points can come from all angles even when she doesn't score.

At the back, it's more of a gamble; Bristol like to attack but can be open, so it’s less about their defenders and more about the attacking players who are pretty much guaranteeing you a return.
