Atlanta Primus is one of the most expensive Barclay’s Women’s Super League 2 assets in the game.
Even coming in at £8million, however, she’s not one to pass up. Her inclusion would leave you £92million from your £100million budget to fill the remaining 14 squad spots.
While Primus may be a costly addition, you’d be well worth building your BWSL2 team around Sunderland’s new signing. After all, her tallied points for former side Southampton last season would have earned you 111 points. That in itself was among the top 30 point-scorers in the 2025/26 BWSL2 campaign.
Is she worth splashing the cash? Absolutely, even if she has upped sticks over the summer.
Sunderland bagged themselves a bargain in free-agent Primus. The Lasses are looking to build upon their eighth-place finish in the Barclay’s Women’s Super League 2 last season. They ended the 2025/26 campaign 18 points of the promotion play-off spot and just 10 clear of relegated Portsmouth.
So, to convince Primus to up sticks from one end of the country to the other is some feat. Primus was key for Southampton last season. Saints finished 11 points clear of Sunderland and just seven off the promotion play-offs. They’d have hoped to build upon a fifth-place finish in their promotion push.
Losing Primus, then, is a blow for the south coast side. Southampton’s loss is very much Sunderland’s gain. The 29-year-old offered a physical outlet in the final third for Simon Parker’s side in the 2025/26 campaign.
She came in clutch when needs must for Saints as she scored four goals and provided three assists across 22 BWSL2 outings. Primus was directly involved in 15.9% of their league goals.
Sunderland will be hoping she can transfer this fine final third form to the Eppleton CW in the coming campaign. Considering Mel Reay’s comments on Primus following her move, the Sunderland boss will have an idea on how best to maximise the Jamaica international’s attacking capability.
“Anyone who has followed the BWSL2 over the last few years will be well aware of Atlanta’s quality and ability,” Reay said. “She’s a versatile midfielder with a real eye for goal and bags of experience at this level, making her a player who can contribute significantly both on and off the pitch.”
As Reay alluded to, Primus injects quality into a couple of key positions, either as a box-to-box number eight in a 4-3-3 setup, or in the number 10 role in a 4-2-3-1 formation. In both roles, she’d offer the crucial box-crashing quality that managers desire.
A hard worker off the ball, too, Primus brings the off-the-ball nous to force high-turnovers. Sunderland would be able to capitalise upon any defensive disorganisation in the opposition ranks.

Primus started the 2024/25 campaign well as she managed two goals and one assist in her opening seven outings. Having her in your squad from the outset, then, could be the difference between pulling away or falling behind your friends in your Fantasy league.
