Sheffield United Women have added another key target to their squad as experienced Republic of Ireland international Lucy Quinn becomes the club’s fifth summer signing, joining from Birmingham City on a one-year deal.
The 32-year-old made over 150 appearances across two spells with the Blues, culminating in a Barclays Women’s Super League 2 title triumph last season.
Quinn has also earned 34 senior caps for her national team and scored five goals in the famous green shirt, representing the country at the most recent Women’s World Cup back in 2023.
Originally from Southampton, Quinn honed her skills at Portsmouth before taking her first steps into Women’s Super League life with Yeovil Town, subsequently joining Birmingham City for her first spell in the second city in 2017.
The versatile forward then joined Tottenham Hotspur before rejoining the Blues in 2021, becoming a fan-favourite and a key performer in the Midlands during her time at the club.
Quinn has now chosen S2 to take the next step in her career and is looking forward to a new challenge with the Blades.
“The main feeling is excitement. I’m really happy to get it done and start to focus on coming in, meeting everyone properly and getting back out on the grass.
“The stage I’m at in my career I’m really big on people, and when I met everyone here I felt really welcome and felt it was a good place to come, express myself and bring something to the team.
“The staff are putting a lot of trust in me, they want me to come on board, and I just hope I can repay that.”
Head coach Stephen Healy is also delighted a player of Quinn’s calibre and experience has chosen to join the club ahead of the new season.
