This season expectations: Aiming to climb the table

Liverpool head into the new campaign looking like a stronger and more settled side compared to the one that finished 11^th in the table last season. Gareth Taylor has continued to rebuild the Reds but crucially, has managed to retain key figures such as Ceri Holland. The Welsh international was one of Liverpool’s most creative players last season, averaging 3.64 crosses and 4.71 dribbles per 90.

Vivien Endemann comes in from Wolfsburg; she’s a very explosive dribbler who loves to take on opponents in 1v1 situations. She could be a great option to stack up those involvement points through dribbles, crosses and chance creation. Additionally, Beata Olsson will be looking to build on her six goals from an xG of 3.68, and Marie Höbinger’s return from injury will add even more creativity in midfield.

Defensively, captain Grace Fisk could be the one to watch, she would have racked up 82 points based on our scoring system in 2025/26. The 28-year-old is comfortable on the ball and as well as reading the game incredibly well, averaging 6.03 interceptions per 90 in the league last season.

Set-piece takers

Corners: Ceri Holland is the one who typically takes corners for Liverpool, adding to her assist potential from out wide.

Penalties: Again, Holland has stepped up previously. Potentially watch out for Olsson or Höbinger as well.

Direct free kicks: This is a little more difficult to guess as there are quite a few players capable of shooting from range. Most likely Holland or Höbinger but one to keep an eye out for in the first few games.

Player costs

Ceri Holland (£6.5m) is the biggest attacking threat for Liverpool. She’s been a consistent performer for a number of seasons and Gareth Taylor’s team looks to build out wide so expect plenty of crosses and dribbles from her. Moreover, Alice Bergström (£4.5m) could be a very good shout. The Swede is versatile and can play either right wing or right back. She loves to carry the ball forward so she will provide plenty of involvement points, potentially at both ends of the pitch.

If Marie Höbinger (£6.5m) reclaims her place in the team and returns to form, she could be an excellent pick in the middle of the park thanks to her creativity and passing abilities. At the back, Grace Fisk (£5.0m) is one to watch, alongside new goalkeeper Khiara Keating (£4.5m).
