This season expectations: Lower half but looking to climb

Sheffield United had a tough time of it last season, but they head into the new campaign having held onto some key players. The Blades squad might have struggled to click together last season, but it actually contains one of the most productive players in the division.

That player is Amy Andrews. She was Sheffield United's talisman last season, banging in nine goals and taking the penalties. Andrews is an exciting forward who tends to drift out wide, as a result she averaged 4.19 dribbles and 3.11 progressive runs per 90 last season.  If you're after goals and attacking involvement points, she's about as good as it gets at this level.

She's not alone, either. Charlie Devlin is a creative, goal-scoring presence who adds real quality in the final third, and the summer arrival of Lucy Quinn from Birmingham brings another attacking option with an eye for goal and set-piece duties in her locker. Sheffield United are an interesting one, they might go under the radar due to last season’s 11^th place finish, but they've got enough going forward to reward the managers who pick the right names.

Set-piece takers

Corners: Charlie Devlin was the assigned corner taker last season, and new signing Lucy Quinn arrives having taken plenty at Birmingham, so the two of them could share duties.

Penalties: Amy Andrews is the one, and it's a big tick in her favour. She was a reliable taker last season on top of her open-play goals, so you're getting a forward who scores and takes the spot-kicks which is a nice Fantasy double.

Direct free kicks: Charlie Devlin is most likely to shoot from distance.

Player costs

Sheffield United might not be the first team that springs to mind when building your fantasy squad but they do have some gems you might want to consider.

Amy Andrews (£8.0m) is clearly the top pick from the Blades. She’s a striker who scores freely and takes the penalties. She could quietly be one of the best-value forwards in the game. Beyond her, Charlie Devlin (£7.5m) is worth a look as a creative option who chips in with goals of her own.

Ella Kinzett (£5.5m) or Eva Butler (£5.0m) could offer decent returns if they hit the ground running in the middle of the park. At the back it's tougher going, it’s perhaps best to wait and see what the starting backline looks like for Stephen Healy’s side. Jess Reavill (£6.0m) could be a good shout if she is a starting centre back for the Blades.
